Post Architecture and Master’s in Heritage Management, she started her career as a heritage management specialist with CRCI, an NGO in Delhi working on preparing the Site Management Plan for World Heritage Site of Ellora Caves, Maharashtra. She has been core faculty in College of Architecture in Pune for 3 years. With a strong desire to work towards livelihoods sector with Heritage & Rural development, she went on to work in the field of Rural Tourism based Livelihoods as consultant to Mumbai based organization Grassroutes Journeys. This included State Tourism Policy for Rural tourism Cluster Development across three states – Andra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and 6 Talukas in Raigad District; Rural Tourism feasibility studies; and headed end to end development of villages for community based rural tourism livelihoods. She has also undertaken independent projects in Heritage, Tourism and Research for organisations like INTACH, JANWANI, Mahratta Chambers of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture, IIT Delhi. In addition, Mugdha is a freelance writer having published newspaper articles and research papers on Community oriented Heritage Management in India.
